Met de paplepel meegekregen \u2013 wat zou ik graag de Prelude in c van Rachmaninov kunnen spelen zoals mijn vader dat kon. De onvergetelijke uitvoering van Bachs Hohe Messe, met de hele familie in de grote zaal en mijn vaders broer Is (Iskar Aribo) op de bok in De Doelen, waar diezelfde oom later als pianist, wat hij ook was, de Pr\u00e9ludes van Debussy speelde. Op de bel-etage in zijn statige oude huis in Leiden gaf hij huisconcerten. Aan \u00e9\u00e9n van de haakjes uit de eindeloze rij van het begin van de gang tot het einde hing je je jas op om dan op de trap en over de overloop langs zijn uitgebreide verzameling muziekinstrumenten naar de muziekkamer met de twee vleugels te lopen. Untill now: pianos, string instruments, percussion, accordions and saxophones. In book and text: the essay \u2018Four highly civilized gentlemen or the magic of the string quartet\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, there is the music being performed, especially in the intimate setting of the Gele Huis-concerten (the Yellow House-concerts), once in a while on a bigger scale with concerts in the Burgerzaal of the Apeldoorn townhall, together with the town carilloneur Boudewijn Zwart.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 I started with the house concerts in the Gele Huis. Gele Huis-concerts are organized infrequently. The program may vary: classic, ancient, modern, world music, improvised music, music plus text. Doors-open with coffee and tea, finish with refreshments; plenty of time for a good conversation with the musicians and guests. Before this there was LuusterThuus (Listen at Home), my first project for small house concerts in Apeldoorn. Together with Ad\u00e8le Reioss band Cees Posthumus we always organized three concerts in the living rooms of others. Preceding the concert the house owner told something about his or her house, its history, architecture or, for example, the neighbourhood. And even before this I participated in the workgroup Apeldoorn Klassiek, The workgroup succeeded in getting famous names, like the Nederlands Kamerkoor (Netherlands Chamber Choir), to Apeldoorn. Op het programma staat de twaalfdelige pianocyclus Savitri. Frederic Voorn schreef deze muziek als muzikale omlijsting van het gelijknamige epische gedicht van Sri Aurobindo. De titels van de pianostukken zijn ontleend aan verschillende passages uit het gedicht.<\/p>\n<p>Savitri is een verhaal over hoe liefde de dood overwint en komt oorspronkelijk uit de Mahabharata; een omvangrijk religieus en filosofisch epos uit het oude India.
